The Lyari Expressway is a multimillion dollar project built along the Lyari River. It is along this very river that the first men and women came to settle, and make the city we know as the thronging metropolis of Karachi -- home to 17 million. Now, the river is the main contributor to close to a billion litres of raw sewage that enters the Arabian Sea every year.
